А.А. Komarov. Swedish ambassador to the USSR Rolf Sulman on his meetings and conversations with Nikita Khrushchev // Petersburg historical journal, no. 1, 2023, pp. 182–190

Abstract:
This publication contains two letters from the Swedish Ambassador to the USSR, Rolf Sulman, to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Torsten Nilsson. In the first letter, the Swedish ambassador describes his impressions of the reception he had at the Kremlin on the occasion of the 1963 New Year’s Eve, and in the second he describes a lengthy conversation with Nikita Khrushchev in late February of the same year. The letters present the impressions of the high-ranking Swedish diplomat as a result of his interaction with the Soviet leader. The tone of the letters witnesses that at the time of writing Soviet-Swedish relations were developing in a favourable spirit.

The Greek texts of the old-Russian “Vita Antonii” and the “Vita Pheodosii” are especially interesting.

PHJ No 3 (35) 2022 – Å. Egge. Soviet diplomacy in Norway and Sweden during the interwar period — the role of Alexandra Kollontai

This article analyzes the activities of Soviet diplomacy in Norway and Sweden during the interwar period and the role of Alexandra Mikhailovna Kollontai in the development of Soviet-Norwegian and Soviet-Swedish relations during those years. Between 1923 and 1930 and in Sweden from 1930 to 1945 Kollontai was chief of the Soviet diplomatic mission in Norway. Kollontai actively established contacts and promoted initiatives that could enhance the prestige of the Soviet Union. She possessed a tremendous capacity for work and open-mindedness. Kollontai always remained loyal to her country. However, she had an independent mind and did not hesitate to voice her own opinion and give advice to her superiors.

This article highlights the course of Russian-Japanese negotiations in 1903–1904, analyzes the positions of the parties, examines the reasons for the intransigence of the Japanese side in the negotiations on the conclusion of a new agreement, studied the reaction in the ruling spheres of Russia to the amendments of the Japanese government to the Russian text of the agreement, the nature of Russian-Korean relations on the eve of the Russian-Japanese war. The author focuses on Japan’s responsibility for starting the war, showing Japan’s aggressive policy in Korea.

The history of Soviet prisoners of War in World War II remains poorly studied, but certain aspects of this history do not coincide with the next general line of historical policy every time and are doomed to oblivion. PHJ No1 (37) 2023 – S.E.Nikitina. The formation of the rural Russian population of Yakutia in the communicative space of the Russian state in the Peter’s I epoch

In the era of Peter I areas of Russian settlement began to take shape around prisons and winter hut of pioneers which consolidated the structure of the Russian state in the northeast. The tasks of creating a transport infrastructure for the outskirt led to the construction of the Irkutsk — Yakutsk tract and the settlement of Russian yamsky peasants there. Composed at the beginning of the 18th century a small stratum in the population of the Yakut district, Russian population played a significant role in the development and consolidation of Russian statehood in the “new lands” which was reflected in various forms of the communicative space of the studied period.
