S. V. Kulikov. Emperor Nicholas II, Count D. M. Solsky and the creation of the State Duma

Abstract:

The published “Memorandum” reproduces the contents of the audience given on July 4, 1905 by Nicholas II to D. M. Solsky, who served as Chairman of the Council of Ministers and led the discussion of the draft legislative State Duma in this institution.

The book under review is a study of the relationship between the student community and the authorities, both university and state, as well as the characteristics of the legal and corporate organisation of students at the pre-reform university. The author examines the social relations of student youth, the formation of official and alternative models of student behaviour, which at that time was an exclusively male community. The author argues that there was a significant gap between the normative gender model of the loyal subject “servant of the fatherland and the Tsar” and the ideal of the educated, emancipated young man developed by the university corporation. The article critically evaluates the ideals of masculinity reconstructed by the author for this socio-cultural group.

The publication examines and publishes documents reflecting certain aspects of the participation of the august customers in the administration and financing of palace construction. Its main advantage lies in the introduction of archival documents into scientific circulation, which significantly supplement the history of the creation of a number of palaces of the members of the House of Romanov both in St. Petersburg and in the regions of Russia.

The article aims to show how the works of Polish historians viewed the activities of Alexander Nevski. Whether it was complete biographical information or only cursory, selected facts that have been repeated many times in numerous publications, bringing nothing to the knowledge of this extraordinary figure. It is important that the biography of Alexander Nevsky has not been published in Poland, and all information about him is scattered around publications on various topics.

PHJ No 4 (36) 2022 – Y.M.Shepilova, Yu.P.Baskakova, E.I.Nosova, S.L.Itarilova. Technical and technological expertise and attribution of the portrait of S.A.Yesenin

Originally the portrait of S.A. Yesenin was attributed as a photograph dated by 1925. The portrait was not printed on photographic paper, but on typographic paper, since it is too thin and puffy, with no emulsion or barite layers. Microscopy of the image showed that the portrait was printed by phototype, i. e., it is a high-quality reproduction from a photograph. This portrait is one of a series of photos with S.A. Yesenin, made in Baku in photo studio of L.G. Bregadze in 1924. Thus it is revealed that the portrait of S.A. Yesenin under investigation is a reproduction of a photograph, printed on a sheet of offset paper, cut out from a book, brochure or magazine. The date of the portrait was revised: 1924, not 1925, as printed under the portrait.

PHJ №1 (45) 2025 — T. A. Bazarova. PETRINE ST. PETERSBURG AND THE WATER ELEMENT

The waters of the Neva and the Gulf of Finland were a source of danger for the inhabitants of Petersburg. In the city, an alarm was organized for the time of the opening and freezing of the Neva, as well as for the beginning of the flooding. The article analyses the decrees of Peter I and the orders of the local administration, which were designed to minimize the damage, and established standards for the construction of new buildings and piers. The article is accompanied by a letter of the Kotlin commander Vasily Poroshin on the consequences of the flood of 5 November 1721.
