The article studies the formation of a group of National Democrats in Primorye and the activities of its group in the parliament of the Priamursky state formation. In the winter of 1921, the government’s unwillingness to reckon with the leaders of the National Democratic faction led to a break in joint work. The National Democrats took the lead in the struggle against the government of S.D. Merkulov, but were defeated, which led to the termination of the activities of the National assembly.

The book presents the 4th tome of Corpus of Byzantinorossica. There are byzantine literary monuments (until 13th century). Among them are texts of agiography and epistolography, various memoirs, historical and nature study. The book includes translations and accompanied by commentary of all these monuments, where Russian-Byzantine relations are described. The Greek texts of the old-Russian “Vita Antonii” and the “Vita Pheodosii” are especially interesting.

PHJ № 1 (37) 2023 — M. S. Belousov. Polish conspiracy on the day of accession to the throne of Nicholas I: the version of the Spanish diplomat Paez de la Cadena

The article is devoted to the problem of the genesis of the mythologeme about the conspiracy of secret societies among the Russian authorities and the political establishment. As appendices, are published reports of the Spanish diplomat Paez de la Cadena, who witnessed the Decembrist uprising and recorded in detail the rhetoric of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry: according to Nesselrode’s initial statement, a riot of Polish officers took place in the capital and the purpose was to plunge the empire into anarchy and confusion. 

PHJ № 1 (37) 2023 – G. N. Ivanov. The Treaty of Nystad in the history of Sweden and Swedish historiography

In Russian scientific literature the signature of the Treaty of Nystad is seen as a milestone event. A great number of scholarly works focused on the significance of the Treaty of Nystad to Russia and its place in Russian history. However, such approach overlooks the views of Swedish society on its significance and subsequent reflection of the Treaty of Nystad in the history of the country. The present work is intended to fill this gap and reveal whether the Treaty of Nystad is perceived as a significant event in the history of Sweden.

PHJ № 1 (37) 2023 – S. L. Firsov. Reflection of the Korean War in the satirical press of the USSR (оn the example of the magazine “Krokodil” 1949–1950)

The article deals with the “ideological historу” of the first period of the Korean War of 1950–1953, which found a peculiar reflection in satirical articles and political cartoons published in the Soviet magazine “Krokodil”. The author shows the methods by which the Soviet reader was convinced that the initiator of the war was the South Korean side, led by Lee Syngman, supported by “American imperialism”.

PHJ № 1 (37) 2023 – Min Kyoung-Hyoun. Korean-Soviet relations after liberation: through the prism of Soviet-Japanese war and the rise of North Korea

The Soviet-Japanese war was of decisive importance for the people of Korea and divided it into two parts. Irresolvable contradictions between the Allies in the anti-Hitler coalition will soon lead to the creation of two independent states — the DPRK and the Republic of Korea. Features and conditions of the war and post-war period, which led to the split of a single people into two parts, are analyzed in the article. The study is based on an analysis of published and unpublished sources, including materials from the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
